As part of my Masters Degree in Learning Technologies, I created many technology assets and they are all below.
How Do People Learn
I also began to see the rapid changes that are taking place, particularly for young people on the use of infographics and storyboards as a quick medium to get a lot of information. Since I knew that my work was going to be focused on a values based area such as Sustainability, I decided to experiment as part of my class assignments with infographics and storyboards that seek to convey and address issues related to unfair conditions for Factory Workers around the world and issues related to financial illiteracy. Here are three of my experiments. Pulling these together, especially the infographics entailed a fair amount of research to ensure the accuracy of the facts.
Problem with Factory Workers Hours and Wages
This was the introductory letter I sent to the key decision makers that served as my advisors.
Hello Sustainability Advisory Board Members,
Context: As many of you may know if you go to http://www.sustainablebrands.com/library, you will see the large amount of valuable content including presentations, articles and research reports Sustainable Brands has accrued over the years. Much of the content falls into several major categories including Metrics, Marketing & Communications, Organizational Change, Behavior Change, Chemistry & Materials, Waste Not, Supply Chain, Products & Design and Collaboration.
Objective: We are embarking on a journey to make this content more valuable and user friendly for our membership base. We believe that it can serve some important key objectives including helping our Brands educate and fast track many internal employees in their respective disciplines on how to integrate sustainable principles and practices into their day jobs. Additionally, making the information available in an organized and user friendly way can help to build capacity around the globe in many different sectors including business, government, educational institutions and the informal sectors including NGOs.
I am including a multi-media presentation I prepared in PREZI to demonstrate some of what might be possible if we pool our resources and commit to the growth and dissemination of our content. Make it a full screen, use the forward arrows to advance it as you look through and when you get to the black screens, look for the green arrow button at the bottom left corner to see the short video clips that demonstrate examples. http://prezi.com/4u8kkmi0eb8u/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy
If any of you have great experience in e-learning platforms that you would like to share or recommend, we are looking to develop partnerships that we all might benefit from.
Call to Action:
1. We are looking for members of our Advisory Board to serve in a Steering Committee to help by lending expertise and formulate a grand plan. I will be taking the lead and would love to see several if not many of you assume different leadership roles for the topics above so that we can create career paths to enroll the larger community and benefit from the rich content we have accumulated over the years. \
2. We would like to get at least one key representative/expert to lead each of the main subject areas and turn our strategic planning and implementation efforts into a game.
3. We would like to ask all of you to take this brief survey to give us feedback on the direction we should take – http://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KLLZJK8.
4. If you have suggestions on E-Learning partners, platforms or solutions – we are happy to be discussing long term opportunities with them.
On a personal aside, I am obtaining my Masters Degree in Learning Technologies at the School of Education at Pepperdine University and making some of these efforts the subject of my Thesis. I have been researching what motivates adult learners and have been looking at what some of the keys to successful learning platforms are and am excited that I can simultaneously be serving our community.
KoAnn and I have discussed this several times and we believe that whatever solution we come up with must serve all of you as committed Brands and our broader membership. This process starts with listening and must seek to engage you all at every stage if we are going to be successful. We have a goal to be far along in our planning and engaged in a pilot by the June Conference in San Diego.
Please feel free to call me at 415.306.1880 and or email me at http://firstname.lastname@example.org to share your thoughts and ideas. Warmest regards, Bonnie
